Established in 1981, Zingaro Nature Reserve was the first protected natural area in Sicily. Limestone rocks overlooking the sea, small inlets and pebble beaches, characterize this stretch of coast among the most beautiful and famous on the island. A popular destination for snorkeling or diving enthusiasts, access to the Reserve is possible via the two entrances (south from Scopello, north from San Vito), paying a ticket or, alternatively, from the sea through organized tours or boat rentals.

Overlooking the gulf of the same name, the town of Castellammare del Golfo was born as a commercial port of ancient Segesta (Emporium Segestanorum). The heart of the city is the port, from which you can admire the characteristic urban amphitheater fabric. Here is the imposing Castle, now a museum, and home to a very suggestive event, the historical re-enactment of the miracle of the Madonna del Soccorso, which in 1718 put an attack by enemy English ships to escape. The event takes place on 13 July and is repeated approximately every two years.

The salt pans extend over territory between the cities of Trapani and Marsala, inside the ancient activity of extraction of sea salt that originates with the Normans is carried out. Partly managed by the WWF, the reserve is also an area that offers shelter to numerous species of migratory birds.
